Hello, I’m Carl.
I founded Revery.
I founded the Revery Workshop in 2024 because I believe that imagination, curiosity, and play are vital to a good life and that participation and engagement are essential to a vibrant culture. And we have fewer and fewer opportunities for these things.
The Revery Workshop is about creating spaces and events that cultivate imagination, curiosity, play, participation, and engagement.
I have several decades of relevant experience. For the past 20 years, I’ve been an academic. I’ve done many creative research projects with communities, organizations, and industry partners. I’ve taught design to hundreds of students, many of whom had little-to-no prior background in design, and I’ve advised and mentored dozens of graduate students. Throughout my academic career, I’ve consulted with businesses and non-profits on design strategy and as served as a mentor to professional creatives. Before I became an academic, I worked as a designer for about a decade.
The Revery Workshop is a platform where I can share my expertise with a wider audience, free from the constraints of academic norms and expectations.
For now, the Revery Workshop is a solo endeavor. However, I collaborate with other designers and artists to deliver the events and services. As we continue to connect and engage, I’m confident that the Revery Workshop will expand and evolve.
